The process of planning your semester abroad can be daunting to handle alone. There’s a lot of information to know, and it can be hard to find all the helpful resources offered. But don’t fear: Our Peer Mentors are here!
Peer Mentors can answer virtually any question you have regarding your study abroad program. No matter what stage in the process you are in — from the beginning stages of exploring programs to post-acceptance — they are here to assist you. They can also answer more personal questions, such as how to deal with fears you may have about studying abroad or advice on fun excursions in specific locations.
It is recommended that you first read each peer’s biography, as their experiences vary, and some may have advanced knowledge in a particular area that holds interest for you. For example, I went on a May Term, so I can assist students with questions they have regarding faculty-led programs in May. On the other hand, Peer Mentor Karen Vasquez studied in Spain, so she could provide better insight into programs in that region.
You can meet with a Peer Mentor in person, or we can meet you wherever you are via an online appointment. We have received an influx of appointments this semester, so we strongly advise you to book your appointment in advance.
We do accept walk-ins if you can’t book in advance, but you may be subject to longer wait times. However, we are all excited to share what we’ve learned from studying abroad (and what can be a daunting process beforehand), so please come see us if you have any questions!

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. But here it goes. I’m a prospective freshman applying to UT as an Informatics Major and I am not in the top 6% of my texas school. I am planning to apply to the pilot take the world by horns program where theres study abroad in korea, copenhagen and panama. I tried email UT Admissions but I didn’t get responses because of high volume of emails. My question was that if we get selected for this, when we are back from the international semester, will we get the major of our choice? Please let me know how this works thank you 🙂 !
